Nicky Cook provides a unique perspective coming to GreeneStone from the military. Nicky retired from the military after thirteen years of service; the last six of which Nicky provided peer counselling support for troops in Canada and Afghanistan with PTSD and addiction issues, using her own recovery and military experiences as a guide. This awoke a passion in her for helping vulnerable people which led to obtaining a Social Work diploma with honours from NorQuest College.
Nicky has worked in behavioral treatment centers and group homes, most recently with Simcoe Counties homeless population as a crisis support worker. Dealing with addiction, poverty, and mental health further fueled her passion for helping people in high-risk and vulnerable situations. As a Recovery Coach at GreeneStone, Nicky supports clients with setting and achieving their recovery goals.
